Dietary Assistant - Maryland

The Daughters of Charity Ministries in Emmitsburg Maryland is seeking a part-time Dietary Assistant

Assists cook in preparing and setting up meals. Assembles, arranges, and cleans kitchen and dining areas. Washes and sanitizes kitchen equipment (dishes, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, utensils, shelves, etc.) on a daily basis. Prepares evening meals as assigned.

Must be able to endure at least four to eight hours continuous work (depending upon assigned shift) requiring physical demands including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying.

Graduation from high school or equivalent required. Experience in a food service department preferred. Ability to follow oral and written instructions required. Courses in institutional or hotel cooking preferred. Must know how to operate and care for equipment and appliances, know how to measure ingredients and solutions and be alert to hazards. Must be able to apply good hand and eye coordination skills when measuring ingredients to follow recipes; working with glass dishes; sharp instruments; hot cooking utensils; and hot/cold foods and liquids. All job duties are expected to be completed in accordance with the mission and values of the Daughters of Charity.
