COMPANY OVERVIEW

Daughters of Charity Ministries in Emmitsburg, Maryland is seeking a full-time Driver.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Driver is responsible for operating company-owned vehicles, including large wheelchair vans for transporting Sisters to and from doctor's offices, various appointments, errands, and airport pick-ups. This position would assist passengers in and out of the vehicle; loading passengers' personal belongings; securing wheelchairs in vehicle; and cleaning and maintenance of entire fleet of vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES

• Makes trips as scheduled by Supervisor. Relays any problems encountered while on the trip to Supervisor as soon as time permits.
• Performs routing maintenance of vehicles. Keeps interior and exterior of vehicles clean.
• Makes daily bank deposits and transactions and delivers mail to Post Office daily as required.
• Transports specimens to local hospital laboratories as required.
• Required paperwork is completed legibly and forwarded to Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Assists passengers as needed, ie., helps them in and out of the vehicle, assists in loading luggage, shopping bags, personal items, etc. Secure wheelchair in vans as necessary.
• Works independently with little Supervision.
• Maintains a good, clean driving record. Obeys all posted state/local speed limits, safety and traffic ordinances.
• Performs other duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend occasionally.
• Must be physically able to handle the handicapped/elderly and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must have the ability to drive in all weather conditions.
• May be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must maintain a clean and valid Driver's License with the Motor Vehicle Administration.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass facility-mandated training courses on an annual basis.
• Knowledge of Baltimore, Washington DC, and major airports is preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret manuals and follow directions.
• Hourly rate is $16.98
